Rental of services and safety rules
In this document you will find the rental and safety rules for the following active recreation services available at the Usmas Meķi recreation complex:

2. Boat and catamaran rental
Jetski rules
Safety is our top priority!
Mandatory safeguards
1. The lifejacket must be worn at all times when on the water – fully extended, all buckles closed as required.
2. The kill switch must always be fastened to the driver’s body or lifejacket. If the driver falls, the engine will stop automatically.
Briefing and start
3. The jet ski may only be started after verbal permission and a safety briefing from the instructor.
4. It is strictly forbidden to accelerate/gas up in the beach area (up to the safe zone).
- Depth is minimal – gassing can cause serious technical damage (propeller, impeller, hull, etc.) which can cost from €100 and more to repair.
- When you start moving, drive slowly, without accelerating, until you are completely clear of the beach area. Only then may you gradually accelerate and move towards the middle of the lake.
GPS and speed/distance control system (Ototrak)
5. All our jet skis are equipped with an Ototrak GPS system that automatically:
- limit speed on the beach and up to the safe zone;
- reduce power if you approach another jetski closer than 50 m;
- reduces power if you get too close to the shore or shallow water;
- signals the end of the rental period;
- allows us to remotely limit power or switch off the engine if necessary for safety reasons;
- record the entire route and incidents.
6. Full power is only available in the safe area (after GPS clearance).
Distances and driving restrictions
7. it is forbidden to come within 15 metres of any other floating craft, swimmer, boat, SUP board, kayak or other object on the water.
8. it is forbidden to ride a jet-ski under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any intoxicating substance.
9.It is forbidden to cause technical or visual damage to the PWC (scratches, crashes, improper tipping, etc.).
10. It is forbidden to endanger yourself or other persons on the water, to keep a safe distance and not to cause waves by passing other watercraft!
Falling and climbing back
11. If you fall off the jetski, only climb back on from the rear – climbing from the side is strictly forbidden as the jetski is easily tipped over.
12. Climbing on the jet nozzle is forbidden both on the water and on shore.
13. If the jetski tips over, follow the instructions on the back of the jet nozzle to cancel the tipping over.
Driving style
14.On open water (in the safe area), without disturbing others, you may only make dynamic jumps and more aggressive manoeuvres in accordance with your skills, physical condition and state of health. Before jumping and doing tricks, make sure that there are no other people or objects within a 50-100 m radius!
Return to shore
15. Approaching the beach area:
- Release the gas in good time;
- idling (no gas)
- 3 metres before a pier or shore, throttle down the engine in a controlled manner to avoid hitting other boats, people or structures.
Additional important provisions
16. Never ride alone – inform the rental staff if you intend to go beyond the visibility zone.
17. If you notice any problem with the motorcycle or the people around you, return to shore immediately and report to the staff.
18. Children under a certain age (usually 16) are only allowed to ride as a passenger and with parental/guardian permission.
Safety rules for rowing boats and catamarans
Safety on the water is a priority! Please follow these rules carefully to ensure an enjoyable and safe outing for all.
1. Be sure to wear and fully fasten the lifejacket at all times when on the water.
2. Place the boat/catamaran in the water and only then enter it.
3. The boat/catamaran must not accommodate more people than the maximum load and seating capacity stated on the boat/catamaran.
4. Do not lean over the side of the boat, rock it or stand up while driving.
5. Watch out for obstacles – rocks, trees, branches, shallows. Keep a safe distance from other boats, swimmers and objects on the water.
6. It is forbidden to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or intoxicating substances.
7. Take care of your safety and the safety of others: be confident in your abilities, don’t put yourself or others at risk.
8. Take special care of children on the boat – they must not be left unattended.
9. Don’t drive in or near reeds – protect birds’ nests and nature.
10. Don’t litter in nature! Take all litter with you and dispose of it in an appropriate place.
11. If you have any problems or need assistance, please contact us immediately.
Safety rules on SUP boards
1. Make sure you wear a lifejacket at all times when on the water.
2. Before boarding, place the board in shallow water or near the shore.
3. Never stand on the board close to the shore or in shallow water – start in deeper water.
4. It is forbidden to be under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating substances on SUP.
5. Be aware of obstacles, other watercraft and swimmers – keep a safe distance (at least 10-15 m).
6. If you fall, float calmly back to the board using the lanyard.
7. Don’t drive in reedbeds or near bird nesting sites – respect nature.
8. Don’t be shy! Take your rubbish with you.
9. Contact us if you need help!
10. Watch out for the oars when you fall, as they only float temporarily!
Rules and information for using the logs
General information
- The following facilities are available at the complex:
- Fixed beacons (at specific locations in the territory)
- Mobile logs, which are placed in front of the lodges
Heating
- The logs are fired only by an employee of the complex.
- The beam is prepared for use for a pre-agreed time.
- Customers are not allowed to heat or adjust the stove themselves. The log is prepared to a certain temperature and handed over to the customer. If the customer intentionally or unintentionally overheats the log and it is necessary for a member of staff to cool the log by running water, this is an additional service for which an extra charge of EUR 30 is levied. This option does not exist between 22.00 and 09.00. The same charge may apply if the customer does not use the log at the time he/she intended and the water has cooled down.
- If, during the service, water is released from the bowl through the fault of the customer and the use of the bowl is endangered or the bowl may be damaged, the employee may stop the service and prohibit the use of the bowl. No refund will be made.
- If additional heating is required, please inform staff in advance.
Temperature
- Recommended water temperature: +37°C to +40°C.
- The beam is heated and handed over to the customer. The beam is kept warm for the duration of the service.
- Please inform the staff if the water is too hot or too cold for your individual needs.
Hygiene and water quality
- Prohibited:
- use soaps, shampoos, oils or other chemicals not specifically designed for use in tubes.
- throw food or drink into the water
- Water changes and maintenance are provided by staff.
- The water bulb is not changed during the service. If the customer releases the water or the water is soaked during the use of the water spout and the water spout is no longer usable but the customer wishes to use it, an additional charge will apply. The fee is EUR 30. This service is not available between 22.00 and 09.00.
Security
- Children must be supervised by an adult.
- The beam is designed for up to 5 people at a time.
- Watch out for hot surfaces (stove, flue).
- The hydro-massages and light in the tubes are powered by electricity. The client is not allowed to switch the tubes on and off by himself.
- Alcohol should be consumed responsibly.
- Recommended length of stay: 10-20 min at a time.
Mobile beams
- The placement of the logs is carried out by staff.
- Customers are not allowed to move or reposition the log.
- Please keep order around the log.
Time of use
- Use of the tubes is subject to reservation.
- Please be quiet at night (23:00-07:00).
Responsibility
- The customer is responsible for safe use and order.
- Damage to the log may be subject to charges.
Sauna rules and information
General information
Several saunas are available in the complex:
- Two shared baths:
- by the lake
- on the lake (semi-floating sauna)
- Private baths in houses and chalets
- One house also has an electric sauna
Heating
Shared baths (lakeside and on the lake)
- The sauna is rented by the hour.
- The sauna is initially heated by a member of staff from the leisure complex.
- Subsequent heating during use is done by the guests themselves.
- Firewood is provided by the leisure complex. It is stored in sufficient quantities to last for the duration of the service. If, through no fault of the client, the firewood is used uneconomically, the client must purchase the firewood themselves in order to ensure the continuation of the service.
Baths in homes and chalets
- The sauna is heated by the guests themselves.
- Please observe safe heating and do not overheat the stove.
- Firewood is provided by the leisure complex. It is stored in sufficient quantities to last for the duration of the service. If, through no fault of the client, the firewood is used uneconomically, the client must purchase the firewood themselves in order to ensure the continuation of the service.
Electric sauna
- The sauna is powered by electricity.
- Please follow the instructions and do not change the settings unnecessarily.
- The administration may ban the use of the sauna if the client uses the sauna in a dishonest way – MAX temperature is maintained all day or the sauna is left unattended.
Temperature and use
- Recommended sauna temperature: +60°C to +90°C (depending on the type of sauna).
- It is advisable to rinse off before going into the sauna.
- Staying in the sauna at one time: 5-15 minutes.
- It is recommended to rest and drink water in between.
- Firewood is provided by the complex. It is stored in sufficient quantities to last for the duration of the service. If, through no fault of the client, the firewood is used uneconomically, the client must purchase the firewood themselves in order to continue the service.
Water and hygiene
- Water should be applied carefully, in small amounts, to rocks.
- Prohibited use:
- chemical agents on stones
- non-compliant substances (oils, sugars without a permit, etc.)
- If sauna items are used (oils, chocolate for sauna rituals, etc.), the client must clean up after himself
- after using the sauna brooms, the customer must clean the sauna
- Please keep the sauna clean.
Security
- Children must be supervised by an adult.
- Alcohol should be consumed responsibly.
- Be careful with:
- for hot stones
- oven and metal surfaces
- slippery floors
- Prohibited:
- dry clothes on the stove
- leaving a stove unattended
Sauna by the lake and on the lake
- Take special care near water.
- On slippery surfaces, move carefully.
- Jumping into the water is only allowed under safe conditions.
Time of use
- Use of the sauna is subject to reservation. The reservation time is strictly set and respected by the client. If the reservation time is not respected, the time will not be extended and the money will not be refunded.
- Please observe silence from 23:00 to 07:00.
Responsibility
- Guests are responsible for:
- safe sauna use
- preservation of inventory
- Damage or untidy baths after use are subject to additional charges.
